Hahahaha, same here! But I leave those things to my wife. I swear that everyday when I get home from work I find at least 1 box (minimum) on my doorstep from Amazon.

Just ordered this Stagg 16" SH medium crash cymbal. I've never owned a Stagg cymbal and I was curious about them so decided to give it a shot. I heard several you tube demos and it sounded really pleasing to my ears. I saw it listed at $59.99 and figured what the heck! I looked around and it costs more elsewhere so at that price it qualifies as an amazon deal. The thin 16" is $102, the 15" medium is $86 and even the 14" medium is $75 so it's a great price for a 16" B20 cymbal.

    Update:
Received the cymbal yesterday. Factory packaging inside a well packed Amazon box. Cymbal sounds good but it has a chip on the edge. Just sent it back today! Crappy QC from what I see. My experiment with Stagg is over! Whether it was a good deal or not is irrelevant if it's damaged from the factory. I will stick to Paiste & Istanbul Mehmet!

I'm not a frequent Amazon customer and have just a few questions on Amazon buys like this.

    - Who fulfills purchases like the incredible deals on cymbals? Do these come directly from Amazon or from individual suppliers?

    - If the latter, is it safe to assume that the orders will be filled at the listed prices and with the items described?

    - If there is a problem with the order (wrong item delivered, no delivery, etc.), who stands responsible for correcting the mistake? Amazon or the independent supplier?

    - If things go south, is it easy and certain that one's payment will be refunded?

    - If Amazon fills and ships the orders, where do these items come from? Manufacturers? Individuals? Distributors? Music stores?

GeeDeeEmm, it's my understanding that the cymbals are in stock items already in Amazon's various warehouses around the country.

Orders will be fulfilled at the listed price, but usually once the item is purchased at said reduced rate, any other identicals in stock often jump back up to full MAP pricing. It's a waiting game. Impossible to figure out their algorithm.

Amazon assumes liability, at least in my experiences.

Refunds are immediate, once return tracking info has been provided.

Can't answer the last one with certainty, but I DO remember when Liberty Drums snares were being blown out a couple of years ago: the US Liberty rep voiced his displeasure here about the way Amazon treated the manufacturers, though it was murky (to me) the relationship they had.

I bought an Istanbul Mehmet at a blowout price a few weeks ago. It was Amazon who sold it and not a reseller. The item was delivered direct from one of Amazon's distribution centers. Amazon shows how many they have in stock when you buy it so you are pretty much guaranteed to get one when you pay for it. If their is an issue (for example, it broke in transit or it got lost), you can easily return it for a replacement at the same price you paid or you can easily get your money back. And if you choose a replacement and it's not in stock, when they get more inventory they ship it to you for the original price you paid. So you really have nothing to lose and $$ savings to gain. Now when it comes to resellers, I don't know! I've only bought drum stuff directly from Amazon or the ones that are fulfilled by Amazon which I'm pretty sure have the same rules as buying straight from Amazon.

i highly recommend only purchasing the absurd deals when amazon.com is listed as the seller. The algorithm knocks the prices, not a person. Algo looks at an item, sees it's been there for 3 years and calculates wasted capital churn, storage, blah blah blah and starts moving the price down.

Liberty had issues with Amazon because of this. So have Gibson, ESP and Taylor guitars as well as Fender I believe. I caught some amazing deals not only on drum stuff, but got a few 5k+ guitars for sub 1500. I'm happy, the companies aren't. I still have my Liberty whiskey set and get compliments on it all the time :)

I wish i had access to that algorithm, my bank account would be drained LOL! But in all seriousness, I wish their was a way to track all this stuff. It takes time to look through everyday. I really do take a few minutes of my day to see what I can find.

lrod1707, there are a couple of browser add-ons, such as Keepa: https://keepa.com/#!
It'll monitor all sorts of stuff you're interested in and can even send you price drop alerts, for example. It also has a price history graph when you open an Amazon page, showing how much the price of the item has been fluctuating. It's fully customizable and pretty handy.

thanks i got on keepa two but one thing I've learned is I like to try stuff on a whim...though I have followed a few things (until someone else has bought them).

I'm the same, I mostly buy when I see something I like and at the moment. But I do see the value in keepa when it comes to deals on Amazon. The deals have to be followed unless you are lucky enough to see it right when you are looking at the item. So if their is something specific that I can wait out for the price to drop, keepa is a good idea.
