I need 15" wood hoops for a mini bass drum. The prices I see for new are over $100/pair! I am looking for a cheap beater 15" diameter shell - depth I guess doesn't matter. I plan on ripping some hoops out of the shell using a circular saw or table saw....
    zip is 93953....thanks.

Ludwig 80s Rocker 5 ply. $25 plus shipping. Maple outer 5922CD08-A532-4091-9D8C-EB6B6C4FD9BB.jpeg E2886837-1EA7-49B8-A547-CCC10D8809A3.jpeg would finish up nicely.

Squid, I will be ripping it into 1.5" hoops, not finishing it. What's s/h to 93953? USPS probably is the cheapest.....also, what's the thickness? And depth? Thanks.

Got the PM - thanks. The drum I wanted was listed as 16" but it's a 15" so it sprung this idea, although I am not thrilled about a 15" bass. So I am debating whether to move forward and settle for the 15" or just bail the idea fully......

If you’re building a bass from a 15” shell then you’ll need a bigger shell than 15” to make hoops from anyway.

You know - I thought about that looking at a 14" mini bass I built. The hoops seem bigger so you're right! I feel like an idiot....I wonder if then I need a 16" shell?
    Thanks, Squid.

I think so, I remember years ago someone making some hoops for a 17" marcher out of some 18" shell cut offs. Maybe check with some drum builders
