My Beautiful Exeter Drum Works Snare

    Wanted to post a few pics of the new custom snare that was just delivered to me. This is an Exeter Drum Works 7x13 Black Limba "Crown of Scar" stave snare with Starphonic hardware. 45 inner with slight roundover bearing edges, oil and wax finish. Redwood badge.

    That's no veneer....and I guess a detail I left out and will now edit....stave snare.

    Beautiful snare. The hoops are weird - sort of like die casts with hooks? Or am I not seeing it right???

    Yeah, they are what Tama calls "grooved" hoops. The clips hook into the groove. Another cool feature of this hardware is that when you loosen the tension rods you can tilt the clips back out of the way keeping them and the tension rods attached to the lug when you do a head change.
