Some friends may revoke my man card, but a little early to mid 1980s Chicago every now and then kinda hits the spot.
Here is one of my favorite Estradasphere songs. Seeing this played live was just amazing. The sound guy had to switch on the bass drum triggers at just the right time for the metal part.
and around 5:30-6:05 on this song (The Transformation) is one of the best melodies I've heard in my entire life.
For me, being a newer drummer, it would be Blues. Last week I started learning my first Shuffle groove and playing along to some drumless blues tracks. Super fun!

They're definitely in the same vein as all my quirky favorites (Cardiacs, Happy The Man, Gentle Giant, Zappa, Bungle, etc..)
Instant fan! I just ordered their Palace Of Mirrors CD and DVD...
My first loves are punk, noisy 60s rock, and really loud and abrasive pop. But I can't get over the first three Ricky Lee Jones records. I'd listen to them every day if I could.
Whatever category Dale Watson goes in. Countrybilly? His drummer is a Gretsch guy.
