Just for the sake of argument, Be bop, post bop and fusion jazz are IMHO, the most difficult to play. I do think that metal and punk could be more physically challenging due to the amount of physical energy required.

This sounds like a poorly thought out question. Are we talking physically difficult or mentally difficult?

    It's not a question. It's a comprehensive ranking.

It may be a question, but it's hardly a comprehensive ranking.

Some genres offer more of a physical challenge than conceptual or musical. Some have both. And where do you put folks like Meshuggah, Steve Coleman, Frank Zappa, Dhafer Youssef or Dan Weiss?

Sorry, but there are so many issues with this "ranking" and not enough time in the day to even get into it. This is the same kind of click-bait as "Top 10 Drummers".

The algorithm considers all those factors, and hundreds of other variables.

algorithm hasn't been in a band with humans, which could get more difficult

Without a proper reference to a full report of this research including the methodology this is just more internet fluff. A highly complex human brain (BA, MA, PhD and over 40 years science research experience) created the previous sentence.

At least I didn't have to read past number 1 to know it was a joke.

I'm obviously listening to the wrong hip-hop and polka music!

As an engineer/nerd, I would be interested in knowing who developed this "algorithm", what it was running on, how and where it got it's inputs, and who verified the results. Looks to me like it didn't have a complete sample set and/or it is simply just a bad algorithm...

I thought it was the Glam-hipster-goth-emo-pirate genre with a touch of psychedelia to round it out that these guys mastered.
