Have a set of XP8 Natural Maple finish shells. It was wrapped in contact paper, and removing that has also taken some of the clean finish on the shells. I want to remove the rest of the clean finish and likely use tongue oil on the bare wood to restore them. Not wanting to do a spray finish as getting that perfect will be more hassle for my skill level.

Any suggestion on what to use to remove the clear finish without hurting the wrap? Not wanting to sand the clean finish as I suspect the actual wood wrap is very thin. Would like to do absolutely minimal sanding - likely only 0000 steel wool I think.

I know nothing about this, I clicked on your topic just because I wanted to see a Rogers natural finish.

Bummer about the lacquer coming off....I too would be leery of sanding....use some kind of stripper maybe....

Good luck, those are cool drums.
