Tama Rockstar RK 1990's kit ply question

    I don't consider this a vintage kit so I posted here. My buddy has a 12/13/16/22 kit in faded white wrap. The inside is black as are the rounded bearing edges. Frankly, it looks like someone took matte black spray paint to it, but they are factory. The inside looks like luan (large vertical grains/lines) and I am sure it's not maple. My research indicates the kit is birch/poplar.

    Does anyone know the shell makeup & # of plies? These are the ones with separate lugs up and down (not connected) that sort of look like Ludwig classic lugs but more boxy and a little bigger. They are made in Taiwan....I don't have pics, sorry......thank you!

    Round bearing edges on a Rockstar kit? That's gotta be a mod.

    hmmm. thought it was poplar. had a rockstar dx from 1993.

    That is factory. Not quite round but a 'round over'.
    I had a set of birch 80's Superstars with the same 'round over'.

    My Imperialstars from the early 80s and mid 70s are the same way. Round over.
