Gretsch RN1 in Metallic Blue
Just got this kit put together after having had the shells for several months. Excited to get back to playing. These are the Barton Kapur shells, 22x14, 13x9, and 16x16. Tama Starclassic 13x6.5 B/B. Zildjian Rock Pack to get me started. Haven't had a chance to really lay into them yet, but I am very excited to. This is my first "new" drumset I've ever had, a bit of an early Christmas present.
First gig on Rogers drums tonight, found these about a month ago.
1980 XP8 Londoner Six outfit, Yamaha Rock Tour snare.
Masterwork Legend cymbals. Gibraltar hardware. Dive Bar.
Really sharp looking kit!
Nice set! I was giving those Barton's serious consideration several weeks ago during my quest for less expensive (but quality) drums to drag around to local dives. Real good bang for the buck.
Last week's kit
So here's my new "beater" set: Hendrix Walnut Perfect Ply Series. Seriously nice drums that won't break the bank. I had been looking for some less expensive drums to drag around to some of the more boisterous gigs we play, but I couldn't find anything that impressed me. Then I stumbled upon these Hendrix's: they had been in store demo'd, and because of that I was given an irresistible discount. They performed admirably last night. I love 'em.
Pictured are the Hendrix's in sizes 9x13/16x16/16x22 along with my 6x14 Sonor SQ2 Vintage Maple snare. Cymbals were a mix of Soultone Vintage 15" hi hats, 19" and 21" Spizz crashes, and a 23" A Zildjian Sweet Ride. Hardware was all single-braced Sakae and a Sonor 400 bass drum pedal.
Yesterday’s office pic. Jazz quartet at a winery in Paso Robles, Ca. From above in the wine club lounge...
Today’s office! Gig at our favorite seafood joint. Merseas, in Port San Luis pier. With my new rock cover band gig, “Groove Rabbit “. People were really having fun.
Maiden voyage tonight for the revived 60s Pearls at the Pig Bar in Olympia! Snare is 63-4 Supra. Plus an assortment of elderly A Zildjians and a 22 in Cymbal Foundry ride.
Amazing that I’m the first one here at the office...
My office last night was a back line kit, which was very uncomfortable but did include a nice Rogers Powertone!
My 1980s SONOR Panther kit making its live debut last weekend. Beech shells, rounded edges. Picked this up for $300, had the hardware powder coated, rack toms cut down to a more traditional depth, and rewrapped. Still need to add grommets and badges. Before and after pics...
Digging in. Took three snares to that gig, 400 402 & 404. Sound checked them all it was huge tent, acro won out.
This I actually my home kit...gretsch renown toms and a Yamaha Stage Custom kick. Acrolite snare...I don’t have any pictures of my “better” kit surprisingly. I’m usually too busy playing it at rehearsals to think about pictures lol
Looks like a Steve Smith fan’s kit.
Here’s one of mine.
This will be my rig for tomorrow night’s gig with The Kingfishers.
TRS Custom Drums - Custom Craft series kit ( maple shells with mahogany inner ply), Jenkins Martin 13 x 7 snare that I bought from Senior . I think I will use the pictured Sabian cymbal setup
I've had this set since about 2000. I've tagged on an old 68 Rogers 16x16 for the low end...for now. I'm trying like hell to find someone to make me a glass shell to match the finish of these Tempus shells. The color is by Meadowbrook Industries and is called Brilliant Light Gold Glitter. Do you think Jenkins-Martin could make me an 18x18 shell in this finish? I've also got a stailnless steel 3 1/2 x14 Pearl shown here. The original drums are 7x10, 9x12, 15x15 and 18x22. To get the spread I want it has to be an 18 which puts the drums about a fifth apart...DRAMA!
From yesterday... played a Sunday Brunch with my free form jam/blues/jazz (and what ever else you can think to call it) band with my standard (for the Peace Merchants anyway) Istanbul Agop cymbal rig and a 6.5" INDe Aluminum snare...
Then hustled across town to do a Christmas program at a local church and just swapped out the cymbals for a smoother, cleaner set of Sabian and my George Way Elkhart copper snare...
Was a good day at the office! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
