I really want to improve my chops...

Got a rusty MIM strat? A dusty Warmoth?

    Hit me up... :)

    Cheers!

Go with Ibanez... you can't go wrong.

Ibanez is cool, but their necks are way too thin for me (at least the ones I´ve tried). Classic strat (even a tele) is more my type of axe.

Look for an Ibanez Roadstar II. These are the last affordable Ibanez guitars made in Japan (in the 80's) and are renowned for their C necks. Many of these are very Strat-like with SSS or HSS pickups and can be found in the $200-250 range. I like a fat neck so I have a 50's Tribute LP and an Epi Dot Deluxe 335. Some of the latter have fat necks and are very cheap.

Fender Squire vintage series - Chinese made, but they are fantastic guitars. The fit, finish and looks are stellar for the price - well under $200 used. I picked up a "brownie" 50's Strat for $150 on CList......

Also, GC usually has many used guitars - you may be able to find one around $100....
