Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place,...

would like to know what brand/size of speakers/subs everyone is using and for what size crowds...

Our band uses JBL eon612s & Behringer 12 subs, with xvive in-ear monitors..

I've travelled with all kinds of PA rigs (from small to giant). Right now, we have two QSC K12 top boxes and a QSC 18" powered sub (if we start gigging with it, we will add another). Right now we are just using it for practice, but I'd say this would be a great PA for about 200 people maybe?

If we play a gig where this won't suffice, a sound crew needs to be hired by the venue.

Pair of JBL 18" powered subs with EON 612s on poles. Presonus RM-16 ai and Xvive IEMs. This is for the house band in a dinner club with 10 or 12' ceilings that seats 225 or so. The Presonus is barely adequate - I think we have one channel open which would be my vocals if I were to start singing. I have kick, snare and overhead mics for the drums with mono out from a SPD-SX and sub out for click from the SPD.

The PA itself is adequate and sounds fine but because of the restaurant's shape, there are distinct pockets of good and bad sound. Another band that plays there has about $20k in FOH gear and it sounds amazing. Not sure what mixer, but all higher end JBL.

Side note: The 2.4Ghz Xvive system interferes with bluetooth. We use a BT direct box for break music and if we leave all 4 Xvives on, bluetooth is nearly unusable at more than 5 feet. Turn them on and the direct box works perfectly from anywhere.

I use a pair of QSC k8.2 (8”) tops with a QSC K-Sub (dual 12”) subwoofer. I have up to 4 QSC CP8 (8”) available as wedges, along with 2 Galaxy “Hotspot” PA6BT 6.5” monitors if needed.

Everything is driven from a Wing Compact desk, paired with Midas stage boxes (have 2 DL16 and 2 DL8 available)

I’ve never had the speakers turned up above 50-60% max. Throws a ridiculous amount of power for the small sizes. Doing weddings / corporate gigs as well as DIY rock shows. Wouldn’t be enough for a genre where crushingly loud bass is needed, but for even most modern pop stuff (Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Miley Cyrus, etc) this rig has absolutely no problem keeping up.
