My 1st Sabian cymbal! A Dave Weckl hihat bottom. It’s heavy but sounds great with a 15”!A new beat. So besides a prototype 18” Paiste crash, and a hammered 502 splash in rotation, all A’s and K’s.

I have not bought a drum since the 5" x 14" walnut Summit that I picked up last June.

But then I went to the Delaware Drum Show and played a bunch of different Summit drums, and this happened...

Gorgeous. Is that chrome or black nickel? (sometimes black nickel photographs more like chrome, but there's something very nickel-ly about this...)

Chrome, the lugs are chrome over brass.

This drum sounds great. Somehow with all of the snare drums that I've owned I'd never gotten around to buying one made of solid mahogany, I had to fix that. ;)

All kidding aside, it really is something special. This was one of Gary's earlier builds, number 47. He was hanging onto it and said that he wasn't sure if he wanted to put it in the car for the show. Then some jerk (ME) had to buy it.

I now own 5" deep Walnut and 6.5" deep Summit snares. I'm guessing that these won't be my last.

Got a deal on a used Ludwig Supraphonic LM402. Thing looks brand new all around. Preliminary tuning suggests they haven't lost their touch with these. I absolutely LOVE the INDe style throw they use now instead of those previous engineering disasters.

I have two separate Yamaha Stage Custom Bebop kits, each with the standard 12x8 mounted tom. Older kit is natural wood and the newer one has the honey amber finish. The older (natural) mounted 12x8 tom has always had issues where it suddenly loses resonance (ring) and tuning becomes a nightmare. Now, even an Evans hydraulic batter head won't help. And, I've always thought it would be nice to have a 13x9 on this kit instead, SO, today via DCP (Portsmouth), I ordered a 13x9 mounted tom in natural wood. With tax and free shipping, it set me back only $130. It's the small things in life that bring joy! Here's a pic from the web, but it only shipped today and it's not actually here yet. I love this forum, BTW...

This is my first post, but I thought it would be a good place to jump in, even though it may be technically a bit outside of the prompt.

This is my new 6.5x14 Black Limba Snare Drum. It was made in house, but I did “purchase “ all of the components.

Looks nice! But how does it sound? I've been pondering a black limba build from DaVille.

This arrived today, my Classic Maple 12x8 I ordered two weeks ago. My minds blown on that since I was told it would take 3 months as the Burgundy Pearl wrap is not part of their normal finishes. They had to built it from scratch ( I guess that meant they had to wrap a new shell). Lovely. I may order a 10x7 since it wont be available in the future.

Beautiful wrap. Enjoy!

Bought these for my Slingerland 22" bass drum: Gibraltar lightweight bd spurs

One of the original spurs finally stripped out, on a gig no less. Did one gig with the new Gibraltar spurs and they seem great so far.

Carolina Drumworks 14x6.5 steam bent bubinga. Unbelievable. Authoritative, but can play very softly too. Deep overtones, but tunes high and crisp too. And utterly gorgeous.
