Have played only my Paiste setup for the past year but had one the other day where I needed something a bit darker/dryer and pulled some Ks out. A lot of fun to switch it up and they were perfect for the gig. 14” Special Dry hats, 21” Special Dry ride, 16” Special Dry crash, 17” Sweet crash, 20” K Custom ride, 18” Special Dry crash.

Working my way into a full set of Sabian Vanguards and had the opportunity to add this sweet 16" version this week. This line was introduced back 2016 but I don't believe it lasted very long, no more than a couple of years.

I have 20 and 21 inch Vanguard rides. I would love to find a set of 14 inch Manhattan Jazz hats to go with them. I am also eyeing 14 inch Legacy hats. The Vanguards are excellent cymbals.

I will keep an eye open for you as well!

Somehow (would've been a nice story for cymbalholic, but too long for Here ) I 've ended up with an all turkish set of cymbals (sans hats) again after many years of playing various incarnations of Zs pretty much exclusively. I do still have all of those, but will take out this setup on a 5 day tour with piano Trio + trombone (added trumpet for one gig) next week. Really looking forward to exploring all the details of sounds and really getting to know them!

1966 Luddy 3 Ply Restored
1967 Acro
from left to right
Paiste 505 16
Paiste 2000 16 China
Paiste 602 22 Reissue
Signature Fast crash 16
602 heavy top over SC dark heavy bottom
Its nice to see that others still use 16” as a crash instead of a hh.

Usual suspects:

Turkish Meinl Byzance:
14” Mixed hats; Jazz thin top/Trad bottom
18” Jazz thin crash
21” DD crash/ride
18” Trash crash
22” China ride

I see you pushed the 10" over allowing the 12" to sit in the sweet spot. Is that something you do often? Ive tried a few times but apparently not enough to be comfortable as I always go back to over the kick. I know you had said you were not a fan of a 10" as the first primary so I'm glad to see you working it around and keeping it in the set.

Sometimes i put a10 to the rt of a12 which may seem odd, but it changes the way i approach things and doesnt move other furniture around much. John mollo did that with hornsby.

If and when I use a 10” it’s usually in this spot. I find a 10” lacking in volume and response as a first tom.

So I've finished that Tour I've posted about above... And of course I din't manage to play the same set all nights :) but at least almost...
14 Johan hat's, 18 Agop Mel 82 (?), 20 Agop Traditional Flat, my trusty old 9" pre Split Splash and either the 20 K Con light that was a present from Billy Hart, or my 20 K reworked by Kruno Levacic
Different house kits with my new Rogers Wood Dyna for Drums.

Here are some Pics

Nice! I dig the well-worn heads on that first kit.

I posted this in the office thread, but I'll post it with more details here. A new setup I'm loving:

Ludwig CM and 6-plies: 13 CM/16/18/22
DW snare: 7x14 Collector's Maple VLT
Paiste: 15" 602 medium over heavy hats, 19" 602 ME crash, 20" Giant Beat multi, 22" 2002 ride

What a sweet set up, that's a lot of power there (in both the drum and cymbal selection), what style of music are you covering with this rig?
