Hey y'all. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations when it comes to buying cymbals. What would you guys recommend for an affordable set of cymbals and getting the most bang out of your buck?

Stagg B20 DH cymbals sound amazing and can be had dirt cheap

Dream cymbals. Made in China, B20 bronze, excellent sound, great price.
This...The Ignition pack is fantastic! Street price is right around $475 for a full set-up.

Paiste PST7 - good cymbals at a very reasonable price
This fellow makes a good case for the PST7s:

And this video does a good job of showing the difference between the different weights:

If you're ok with buying used, you could probably get some pretty low prices on used A Zildjian cymbals. It's pretty hard to go wrong with Zildjian A's (at least in my opinion)!

Agop Xist
^^^ This.... If i remember correctly an entire set if these was under 500 with a cymbal bag...i was truly impressed with them. I heard them at " The Drum Shop" in Portland Maine.. Contact them and see if they have any left over.

I would buy used, but only locally, and only cymbals that I can see and inspect carefully before buying. As long as it is not cracked or keyholed, most used cymbals sound just as good as a new one and are often half the price.

Paiste Alpha packs are good value cymbals that sound great too. I have a medium pack with the brilliant finish, and the full ride. very nice and not overly expensive

Paiste PST7s & Alphas and the Istanbul Agop Xist series have some good cymbals for a fairly reasonable price.

Sabian XSR and Paiste PST 7. Great values and great cymbals, too!

There are some great deals on Sabian XSR and other cymbals on the for sale section on this site.

Another vote for PST7's. I got the regular ride, and it is beautiful. I actually prefer it to the 2002 ride I also own.

Great player, but I can't agree with him on the Ride and Hi Hats. I liked the crashes, but the ride is "tingy" and lacks body, and while I like the closed hi hat, the open sound has that same cheap sound as the ride.
