Hello go by GetAgrippa, which is a descriptive moniker since I need to, but my name is Arthur-Art. Started playing drums in 1963 when I was 8 (Three Flames and a Spark (I was Sparkie) was first band with an older brother who was 13-14. Then played through garage band rock era and took a long hiatus from mid twenties till 1993-4 ?? when my wife and kids surprised me with a Pearl Forum starter kit. Been playing ever since mostly in churches, a big band, and a couple of jazz groups (which I qualify I'm not really a jazz drummer but have improved). I had a benign tumor in my left ear at 40 that killed that ear and had progress hearing in my right ear which is only as good as my hearing aid. I seem to have progressive hearing loss which I believe familial since my Mom and her siblings all lost their hearing. I can still "feel" the music and use visual cues of watching bass player and others to keep me on track -once I have the music in my head and visual cues I manage (it's been more frustrating of late). I can't imagine life without noodling on the drums-soothes the savage beast in me. I too am a migrant from DW forum and nice to see so many familiar names on here (many I respect a lot). Hope to make new friends who share the drum passion. Just turned 70 and though in excellent health and no meds I'm getting arthritis from old injuries and age that is slowing me down (seems part of aging). Exercise like drumming -keeping in motion helps. I'm self taught so never considered myself a musician but that has ever stopped guitar players and other who pick up an instrument and hit go learning on the way. Listening to lots of music and playing to lots of various genres have taught me more than watching a million videos that just made me apoplectic and confused (it's a trap LOL). I appreciate useful criticism so don't feel shy to offer such. Good to be here and I have enjoyed exploring and reading old threads on here. I note comments of jda who speaks in prose (or some alien language I can't understand either)-so fair warning I tend to be verbose and loose with the punctuation-I'm streaming thoughts more so writing. It's an ADHD and dysgraphia thing-which I overcame the writing for decades but since I turned 65 it's creeping back like a lion with reversing word order, skipping words, letters and spelling-my Bad! My brain tends to get ahead of my fingers typing now. But I still have lots of mileage left so I shouldn't complain. I'm 70 but my brain is still 16 I think LOL. Good to be here.

Hey Grippa - stick around a while and you'll recognize my style from DW (different handle here).
Break them in gently with your verbose scientific discourse. :D

I'm a trouble maker by nature but have been working on improving that aspect of my personality . When I first joined up at Drummerworld I felt like a fox in the chicken coup ( sp. ) . After getting a few stern warnings I accepted things as they were and got along OK .

They're heeere!

Wow super cool to see these clever OG drummerworld cats streaming in, along with some fresh new drummers. Hopefully y'all will stick around and have some fun.
Welcome y'all, it looks like DFO is gonna be even more epic than before.

Al, you came to a better drum forum. I hope more of the guys & ladies over there migrate.

Welcome to you. I too washed up here. I was cast a drift a few years ago from where I was to where I am.
Holy Cats I miss that place. Anyway the people here are cool. Have fun.
