So, I'm looking to re-wrap my kit in just a solid/piano black wrap, but I'd also prefer it to be pre cut because I've never wrapped a drum before. I got a quote from Jammin Sam, but after shipping and the adhesive tape and all that, it ended up being almost $200 for just a 3pc set.

Any recommendations for something cheaper? I'm looking for 22x14, 13x9, and 16x16.

also a forum member check out:

You could check with him. "Compactdrums" is his forum name....see post below this one :)

Call Precision - they have cheap remnants - sometimes!

Also, for $7.00, you can "rewrap" in "black panther" (aka imitation leather) using Con-Tact paper from Home Depot. It is self stick, will peel off if you later don't like it, and it's wide enough to cover all your drums. You can cut off the excess with a blade......super easy and looks great. I recovered my DW jellybean bop kit just for the hell of it (black/red/yellow) and they look great with the chrome hardware!

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I remember seeing an older post on the Pearl forums a few years ago from a guy that wrapped his drums in the same material that they use for booths and bar stools in restaurants. I might try and go that route. I know that stuff is a little thicker, but I think it could work just fine.

Good cat, I bought the "wrap" you mention from a fabric store in S.F. once in sparkle turqouise to wrap an old Slingy kit. It was pretty easy to cut and do, but it does add weight and to me, seemed to deaded the drums a little. I didn't glue it down (other than 2 sided tape on the seam). I did a 12/14/18 (FT) and it worked pretty good but I ended up selling the kit.

I also did a Yamaha hipgig 10/13/16/12 in the same material but in "black galaxy" which was black with silver and gold flecks. This finish was killer - almost dark olive looking. I ended up selling that kit, too.

Go to a fabric shop and I think it's like $5-10/yard. I think each kit cost me $30 per, plus my time, but heck, these are fun projects!
