anyone played this one? I’m looking at but am interested in your thoughts and feedback. Memphis Drum Shop vid sounds good. Thanks

I’ve got one. Fantastic. IMO Gretsch’s most versatile metal USA snare. The push button throw off took a second to get used to, coming from lighting land. I swapped wires for 20 strand, which I prefer. A touch wetter and darker than the cob 4160, which I also have and love.

I have the 6.5" deep version of that snare, and it's my favorite snare of all time. Took me a while to figure out the ideal head and tuning (Coated Ambassador X, tuned medium-high and wide open), but now that I have it sounds incredible. Dark, full and rich yet with plenty of cut and bite. And like Devin, I changed out the wires to cut down on snare buzz—but to 24 strands instead of 20.

I'm sure the 5" version is super nice as well. That's actually Mike Johnston's favorite.

Ive had the 6.5 one for a few years now, great snare. It was a tad on the dry side with the die cast….so I also run it with some 2.3 Ludwig triple flange and it growls a bit more
