BtnkBndt,

I had a friend who had a set of those lipstick pink Granstars - 22, 13, 16, 18 - they sounded incredible. When they came out, I thought the arrowhead lugs looked kind of goofy. Now, I think they look very cool. That pink looks great on stage.

Sonor Performers? I had a white 2X22, 12, 13 and two 16 set-up, years ago. Power sizes. Loved those too. I wanted a set of the matte grey ones sooooo bad.

Those yellow Gretsch look outstanding! cp's Slingys too - very handsome.

Attached, a Monroe era 6-ply (very lightweight though) Ludwig snare, built in a very low-tech fashion, from the remnants of a 14x12 tom, abused and left for dead in a pawn shop. Hacksawed to 7.5x14, hand sanded bottom edge and beds, Daubed gold leaf over matte black, then lacquered. Generic Gibraltar throw. Scraps v2.0. My snare du jour. Sounds great.

Chas, what does it sound like?

I love drum parades. Keep'em coming.

st3ady ,

Those wound snare "cords" on the calf really give it an old timey field marching snare tone...but, to be honest... the "new" calf was a budget buster..and I'm afraid to put much of anything (tension) on this 100+ year old snare. I believe I said at the time of the rehab...the sonic response was best left to an earlier era's appreciation.

Mike C has some very ornate early Duplex.... just perfection.

Here's a factoid... Teddy Roosevelt was President the year this drum was manufactured. ! (Drum made in March..McKinley died in Sept...Teddy walked softly and carried a big (drum) stick) !

Peace, Chas

And here's my boy playing his Tama Starclassic Performers.

Great kits, from all ! "Ploughman" your Rogers kits look great
I have to say that on the vintage kits
Rogers are my favorite I'm not knocking
the other brands because I love them to
but when it came to construction it was no contest
I really would love to get some more.

1971 Ludwig Black Panthers. All original except for the 14x14 floor tom.
