Seems when you don't need another snare at all is when you find the craziest deals. Just looking on reverb/ebay, and spotted a Pork Pie "maple with walnut veneer" for absurdly cheap.

I had a walnut snare before and really miss the voice it had, so I had to check it out. It's in pretty excellent condition minus the interior screws having a little oxidation or something going on with them. It doesn't affect them it seems, so for as cheap as I got it, I let that go.

It is indeed the full 9 ply walnut shell Bill did back in 2018. Absolutely has the lower walnut tone that I remember loving. Very glad it wasn't the maple with walnut veneer only.

Here she is!

Nice! I have occasionally replaced stock interior screws/washers with stainless. Wouldn't hurt.

The only real negative I can find is the strainer is on the right side. I hate that location, but, nothing I can't get over. Otherwise, absolutely perfect drum.

You know, you can turn the drum on the stand! :)

I know you probably meant “in relation to the badge”. However, the audience will probably never see that badge anyway.

How does it compare to the rosewood pork?
This one has a much deeper fundamental, and less cutting is how I'd describe it. The Rosewood is a solid shell though also vs this 9 ply walnut.

It has stock 2.3 hoops. I may eventually put some casts on it, but I'm enjoying it as it is so far. I put my usual 42 strand wires on it.

Nice grab, that's a sweet addition to the stable. You should own stock through acquisition in Pork Pie by now!!!!

This one definitely has a distinct voice. Little bit better picture I got today. I just love everything Bill makes.

Put a new coated ambassador on, and I'm really digging it. I had an old CSx on, but it was worn out and not working well. The ambassador really made it more lively

The Pix are a little distorting. What are the dimensions on that baby?
