I 2nd the recommendation of Millers Pub. My son went to school in the area and I liked the atmosphere, food & beer.... I like CME, but I've only been in a couple of times. Super nice staff and I would definitely go back. Stay safe, tomorrow's weather looks horrible.

For guitars and basses, definitely. For drums, don’t even waste your time. Very small drum department. Not much in store for drums or cymbals.
Interesting. Based on their marketing you'd think they had a pretty significant drum department. I was bummed I didn't on my last drum to the drum show but I guess i didn't miss out on much.

If you are a jazz fan, try to make it to Dusty Groove records at 1120 N Ashland.A great place that’s just a few blocks from the Division blue line stop.

I'll be lucky to get my flight out tomorrow

So I'm actually in town for the Midwest Clinic (daughter performed this week). Got to check out the expo. Loved the Tama booth. Their concert snares are phenomenal.

Also got a chance to play their new practice kit. The bass drum pad is the real deal. The best feeling (and sounding!) bass drum pad I've ever played. Great product.

Chicago Music Exchange is great. Vic's Drumshop use to be the best place ever... then they went to online only.. what a shame

I'm pretty sure the drum department is in it's own shop.

Tell me where to go. Is Chicago music exchange worth visiting?

I think it is worth visiting. I have been several times on my visits to Chicago. They may not be as big as some of the big name shops in the country but the store is not tiny. They have a good selection of products to check out, many quality items.

Went over the CME. Neat place. Nice to see some stuff in person like N&C drums. They had a nice SQ2 kit on the floor. Tried out a perfect balance pedal, and I really liked it. I've bought from CME before, so I don't feel too bad about being a tourist. The guitar side of the store is pretty impressive.

Let us know if you get to take your flight. If you meet a John Candy-like fellow, don't talk to him: it means you are caught in a real live version of "Planes Trains and Automobiles" ;-)

But seriously though, I hope you get home safe and sound.

Last time I was here in the winter, I got the last flight out before they called it. My co-workers had to get a hotel and stay a couple more days. Was really lucky because we were sitting on the tarmac for about an hour and a half, just sure they were going to un-board us. It'll be a repeat. The heavier snow will be starting as we board today.

9:12am Indy news just reported the Indianapolis airport has 8 cancelations and 12 delays already. :salute:

You're screwed.

I’m dying for an Italian beef sandwich. I grew up in Chicago and it was on our food pyramid. Portillo’s has a great one but you can find them at most diners and will blow you away. Make sure to get the peppers.

I have Bob-O's at Irving Park & Cumberland about 6 blocks away. Everyone talks about Johnnie's in Elmwood Park, but I prefer my local place, especially with the hand-cut fries. I know a guy that refers to Portillo's as "baseline beef" which I like. Good, but the mom and pop spots I like are so much better.

Went to Portillos, but got the hot dogs. Sounds like I should have gotten the Italian beef!
