Relocating my drums/recording stuff to the garage

Lauten mics on Toms and snare
Beyer M160 Overheads
Beyer 201 snare bottom
Beyer M88 kick in
telefunken TF17 Kick out
RCA 77DX Mono room
AKG D222 "wurst" mic

There's a Chandler Lil'Devil EQ and a Purple audio Action comp both on the Snare and the Kick in
The overheads go to a Retro Revolver comp
Then everything is summed in a Studer 269 board.

I'm sure I've forgotten some stuff but I'll do a video tour of the setup soon.

Aaaaand tonight I had fun covering a Remi Wolf song as the first test recording in the new space.

Oh wow! I usually prefer my snares tight with more of a crack, but this just fits so perfectly. There's a few Vulfpeck songs with exactly that snare sound... funky! Awesome work.

Thanks man, yeah Ilike me a nice fat snare sound but not too gushy. I've listened to a lot of Vulfpeck and their various spinoffs (also a ton of 70's stuff) so I guess I tune/mix to somewhat match what I like to listen to. Plus that sound fits great in the song. A super ringy 90's Spin Doctor snare wouldn't be appropriate here...

Thanks for sharing!

I was wondering (but maybe I overlooked it in this thread): what is your mic setup?
Esp. the double-sided (?) one in front of the hihat.
That one is a Lauten "Tom" mic, I don't have a dedicated hat mic as I use my overheads as "whole kit" mics so the pic up a ton of hat alrwady. I don' play a lot of intrcate very fast hat parts that mandate ultimate clarity and separation. As mostly a meat and potato kinda player, I want the hats to blend in, not stick out.

tasty groove
Thanks, it wasn't easy to follow the backing track as it was done in the days before clicks and the tempo fluctuates quite a bit. But it sounds just like a jam that could've occured during a soundcheck or between takes during a session. That's partly what drew me to it. That and the uber groovy Pudie drum part.
