Yellow is one finish I have always liked but never have owned . I always loved Tony Williams’ Yellow Gretsch kit . I had considered a yellow kit when I ordered my Gretsch USA Custom a few months back . I showed the yellow to my girlfriend and her response ? “Why would you want such hideous drums ?” . Obviously not a yellow fan . I still have a soft spot for that yellow Tama Star Bubinga kit Peter Erskine played . May still be the best sounding kit I have ever heard on YouTube .

This is as close to yellow as I have. (Cropped from snare shelfie.) I turned it into a concert snare w/ an M5 batter and Patterson snares.

I’ve had three Gretsch yellow kits.
The first was a 70’s Stop Sign yellow lacquer 18,12,13,14 floor and matching 5” snare, sadly I sold them. Then I had a 1980’syellow Nitron kit with 22,10,12,13,14 floor with a matching 6-1/2 x14 snare.
Sadly I sold that kit to a drummer in Chicago but kept the snare.
Now I have a 1977 yellow lacquer kit. 18,12,14 and the yellow Nitron (-1/2x14 snare. It has a Ludwig rail mount and Ludwig mount on the 12” Tom but there are no extra holes so somebody ordered it that way which is way better than having the 1970’s Gretsch Monster mount Tom holder which was horrible. That was the tom mount on my first Gretsch kit. The yellow Nitron snare is shown in these photos too.. The snare is also from around 1977-78.This kit has the first Gretsch square badge which came out inn1977 before they went back to the stop sign drop G badge in 1980-81 and then back to the Square badge. This kit sounds great ,it does have scratches and paint chipped off but it sounds good and still looks good.

Here's mine: 26x14 bd (an old - 1934 - single-ply steam-bent Ludwig mahogany marching drum) w/ new Ludwig curved spurs added; original hoops; new large classic lugs to replace the old nickle tube lugs; no extra holes anywhere on the drum!

13x9 tom tom late 60s/early 70s era Ludwig shell w/ re-rings Maple-Poplar-Maple

(2) 16x16 fl toms late 60s/early 70s era Ludwug shells w/re-rings Maple-Poplar-Maple

14x5 Yellow 'Vistalite' snare 10-lug. this drum did not come from the Ludwig factory, but every bit of it is genuine Ludwig; shell is from RCI Starlite shells who make Vistalite shells for Ludwig. All other parts are from a retailer who sells Ludwig hardware parts and accessories.

*I was wrong about RCI Starlite making the new Vistalite shells for Ludwig. They actually make Vistalite replacement shells with 1970s Ludwig spec's. Oops!*

My set was rewrapped in 'Yellow Glitter' from Drum Foundry/Black Swamp when they used to carry wraps. It was all professionally rewrapped/refurbished by Mark Brown in Houston about 15-20 yrs ago.

I have all yellow SKB hardcases for each drum.

I'd like to sell this kit. I may post it in Drums for Sale Forum in the near future. It will also be on Facebook and Reverb.
