We all know this board is pretty Ludwig heavy... There's been so many pictures and threads posted about everybody's Ludwig kits, and I know we have the drum porn thread, but I want a Ludwig thread.

Why? Selfish reasons. I plan to archive your photos for use on a future "Ludwigs around the world" website. :D

So show me your Ludwigs, DFO! Doesn't matter how "collectible" it is. Leedy & Ludwig counts! Ludwig & Ludwig counts!

Post the following info:
Year of the kit
History if you know it
Any mods?
Sizes
The kit's current location (would be cool to see if some of our overseas members have picked up kits that started out life in a garage band stateside...)

Do I get to go first?
(As if you don't aleady know what I've got)
1993 Blue Shadow finished 6 Ply
8x10 (Not Pictured)
8x12
10x14(Not Pictured)
16x16
14x22
5x14
All drums are "virgins" Toms have Gauger Rims.

Awesome Chris, thanks for posting! You are the original owner of the kit, right?

Yes.
A little more history:
When I ordered these the guy at the shop showed me a sample that was a really dark blue, like Neil Pearts Blue Shadow kit. This was right after Neil got his I think.
Anyway when the drums came in the guy (Mark Brown at Kirk Scott's Drum City, San Antonio, TX) called and said that there was a problem. He said the drums are no where near the color I thought they would be. When I went to pick them up they were beautiful, the exact color I would have wanted if I could of had them custom finished. I've only seen a few sets show up on ebay or elsewhere and usually they are either a darker blue or an aqua blue.

Did you want snares too? Or just kits? I don't have any good pics of my blue oysters, I'll have to take some.

Yes everyone, snares too! Definitely make sure to include the history on the drums if you know if, it's as fun to read as looking at the pics!

I'm going to build a database where you can sort by color, year, etc.

Huge web geek alert. As if I didn't already have too many things going on. haha But one can always make room for looking at pretty drumkits...

1958 WFLs. These is the first real drum set I ever played. This was the kit at Rockland Junior High School. When I went to high school, the band director sold them to me for $150. (He bought a set of Exports!) I lovingly restored them.

Trans badge 1959 Jazz Combo I restored. The story is here: http://www.billyrhyt...s/snares/bebop/

1975-ish Vistas. Bad crack in the 12''; I don't hardly use that drum anymore. I play this kit with my 70s funk band "Groove Machine." I don't really like how they sound. I'd probably trade them for a nice set of Butcher Blocks.

1964 OBP kit. Chick Bailey, a local cat, called me one day. He was near 90. He was afraid that when he passed, his wife wouldn't know what to do with his collection. He started gifting me stuff. He gifted this kit to me, along with a 70s era Bowling Ball OBP 14" and 20" floor.

I got these a month ago. 1961 Gold Sparkle Hollywood 22-12-12-13 and jazzfest with Nickel hardware.(broken attachment removed)

2004 mod orange reissue 20,12,14 5x14 canister CM

Various snares ranging from six wfl twin strainer snares to supras and jazzfests. I will post some pics at some point but it may take me a bit. Looking foward to seeing this website Liz!

I'll post a pic someday...My Ludwigs are all orphans, all WMP: 1957 WFL 14x22 Virgin Bass drum, 1961 9x13 tom, 1974 10x14 tom, 1962 16 tom, and a 1979 6 1/2x14 Super Sensitive snare. They all look alike from two feet away, except for that 10x14. This set really wants an 8x12. Ah well, someday...Charlie Donnelly, Vincent Curtis, Ron from Philly, Bobby Chiasson, and Performance Music were my sources. It all started with Mr. Donnelly's Bass drum. Saw that puppy, had to have it!

I've been wanting to get some outdoor pictures, but these will have to do.
