Speaking of Bernhard

He sold the site last year. He did such a great job, really taking care of his community and now some folks are asking for his help to resolve the ongoing technical issues.

The lead admin respectfully requested that folks leave him out of this
Frank, I hope B got some cash outta the deal and keeps on drumming. It’s gotta be no fun to police the drummers but B really did a great job with his profiles section. I’d go to it, but for some reason didn’t know about the dw forum until recently. I’m pretty satisfied here and now at the new Sonor forum Jules has started.

But I miss the short bios and the pictures of drummers at their kits over the years. I’m very visual of a person and will recall images for years.

Forty plus years later, I’ve still got a mental pic of a Paiste modern drummer ad with Steve Jordan behind his white Letterman Yamaha kit with his Paiste color sound cymbals WAY UP YONDER in the air.

And most of the members here have never heard me play … but I do - well over 50 years behind the kit.
And I’ve worked and played with some people you’ve heard … and I try to make sure people don’t know about it.
Same with my work in film, animation, and video games.
That's the thing about forums … we all discuss what we discuss and try to add whatever we feel we can to the conversations.
But we take each other (or should) at face value.
We're just a bunch of drummers chatting about goofy stuff.
Very True that we are. The thing is he talks relentlessly (for the past 25 yrs) as if he was really something, this big deal musician, if I heard him mention this Berkeley career one more time I was going to puke. When you come off and portray yourself as this jazz drumming (snob)you better be able to back it up with more than just words and some poor quality videos of garage band room noodling.

Hello squad! I thought my new secret identity had been discovered and I'd been banned again from Drummerworld but apparently not.

There weren't many of us original 2004-era members around (from the original PHPBB forum!) but it's good to see some old faces over here.

A few thoughts on the current situation.

Around the time my account was banned again (around 18 months ago), a couple of other long-standing members were also banned. LarryAce (a moderator) was most likely banned and so was Bo Eder and another moderator (who is a great chap) resigned. Shortly after, DogBreath became a moderator again.

There's old history between myself and DogBreath that goes back over a decade and I don't agree with a number of his moderation decisions, to say the least. However, he's the sheriff now. Fine.

The new owner is just posting AI slop as 'news' on the front page (and I have called him out about it on there) and it's no longer the community it was. I joined the forum when I was 16 and made a number of good friends on there and the generosity of some of the posters is deep and heartfelt. It breaks my heart to see what it has become and for it to be sold to a third-rate venture capital firm.

Incidentally, one look at Bo Eder's Instagram feed tells you a lot more about him than his 20K+ posts at Drummerworld. Needless to say he definitely has some political opinions. I was aware of those well over a decade ago when another member pointed out some interesting posts that they'd seen on Facebook to me. I have actively avoided him since.

That's probably why we haven't seen any videos from people that post the same photos over and over of their obnoxious drum collection and lifestyle.

I don’t mind collector and hobby drummers. Lv these guys , they spend tons of money on gear and inspire to be like thier drumming hero’s and almost all tell it like it is. Most of us here are weekend warriors playing gigging having a good time. I admire all the the pro’s we have here also some serious talent all over the place here.
What bothers me It’s the guys that talk big smack about thier illustrious drumming careers but have no credentials or cred. Talk is cheap Show me the beef!
Same thing goes with gear as we always say ,
pictures or it never happened!!

JDA coukd probably make a new account here. I think a lot of the banning from the old Drum Forum might not have transferred to the new owners. Somebody should tell him that he could try.

I was around when Bugalu Jones sent everyone into a tizzy on Cymbalholic. I'll tell you, for a bunch of musicians, some people can really have a lack of imagination. And can get really uncomfortable when they can't decipher what's being said.

If only JDA were the worst of anyone's problems.

Men, it’s the internet. If you are letting one guy get to you I don’t know what to say.
If some guy is sending me threats, he’s welcome to come to backwoods West Virginia and we can work things out.
And that’s just it, 99.9 % of these tough guys aren’t going to do anything.

I get discourse with JDA, I really do. The incoherent rambling. I guess I’m lucky, I worked in public safety and as a nurse so I’m use to it and can decipher what they are saying. :icon_mrgreen:

Curious what this bo guy did? I remember him here a short time. My reading at DW, never really read anything crazy from him.

I had many conversations with Bo and had no idea he was banned from DW. If he was banned from DW, that's a very sad thing and doesn't reflect well on DW. I never remember him saying anything "bannable". He was always a good dude with fascinating stories.

Concerning people making threats on the internet, I agree with you 100%. They're tough behind their keyboards, but face-to-face, they fold like a cheap umbrella.

Yes, Bo was banned, for what, I have no clue. I'm hoping he'll come here.

JDA (Joe) got under a lot of people's skin at DW, mine included. As many of you know, he's extremely critical, Gretsch-centric, and not afraid to mouth off to almost anyone. I got tired of his sarcastic, nebulous and clipped remarks. He's banned for life here? Probably a wise move.
I KNEW I couldn't have been the only person to think that!

Welcome!! I remember your posts from DW!! I think I started lurking around there in 2005 or so... Glad to see another familiar name!

If you're talking about who I think you're talking about, there were videos. Two of them. From a long time ago. And no, they weren't very good.

I think anyone who offers any drumming advice online ought to have some videos of themselves playing , otherwise how am I to know whether or not to listen to you ??
