The kit on the left in the photo. Cherry Burst 1st gen Renown Maple. 12/14/22. Thanks fellow DFO'er Daveplaydrum. I chucked the heads that were on it and put on Remo Fiberskyn batters and Remo Coated Diplomat resos and they are high tuned. I kept the Evan Emad and after A/B ing the two kits, the Evans Emad is history and I will get another Aquarian Super Kick 2 batter, Remo coated Brooklyn T-roof logo reso and an Evans muffle pad for the Renown 22, ilike the one in the Catalina. I also have a matching 18" Renown RN2 bass that I bought from DCP the day after I bought this kit from Dave. That one has a Fiberskyn P3 batter and a Fiberskyn T-Roof logo reso. My wife made me a new stick bag too.

I've always been interested in making my own kit, so I bought some hardwoods and vintage hardware to create an eclectic stave set. I loved every bit of the process from making my own stain to antiquing the the hardware. I recommend trying it!

Bass is cherry with maple stripe, 18x12
Rack tom is pecan, maple, walnut, 8x10 (maple is from old Dallas Mavs basketball court)
Floor tom is maple/purple heart, 14x14
Snares on floor are maple/mahogany, 14x4, 14x7
Snare on stand is alder with milkpaint finish, 14x5

Last purchase for what looks like quite awhile is a used Sonor Protean 14 x 5.25” snare . It might be one of my all time favourite snares I have ever owned

Just got this in today! Oak 5.5x14 stave shell. The seller was gracious enough to drill it for hardware for me. Lugs, hoops and vent hole should be delivered tomorrow. The Trick strainer will take a little longer. Will also need to pick up some longer screws to mount all the hardware. Thinking of sealing the interior with a stain or some tung oil. Can’t wait to get this one put together!

Man, I would love to know more about your build! I hope you documented it with pictures and video!

My 4 pc. Ludwig Classic Maple's MOD kit in Vintage Black Oyster finish. 8" tom, 13" tom, 14" floor tom and a 6.5"x14" Supraphonic snare are also on their way! Advert photo attached (mine has a virgin bass!). The kit is in the boxes and I'll post more pictures as I go along.

You know, for someone sworn to slowing down on my buying this is my 5 post into this thread since it started just FOUR months ago... I suck at this!

Another wonderful snare purchased from our own Bleen (a great member to trade with by the way).... a gorgeous Tama 6” X 14” Starphonic Maple with a 6mm /6 ply Maple shell and Mappa Burl Veneer (European Black Poplar) made in Japan. I'm growing fond of these Starphonics to be sure. Between these and my George Way's I'm feeling pretty covered at the moment.

With all the High End items posted (I have my RB's SSB's DW's, Pearl Masters too)...I purchased this at the height of the Pandemic here in Ft. Lauderdale....The seller lost his job and in order to eat- was selling this 1984 Tama Imperialstar w/Zolacoat Interiors (Think Stewart Copeland, Liberty DeVito, Stan Lynch and more) in uncommon sizes for this series: 8x12, 9x13, 16x16, 14x22 No Mods, No issues and with new heads top and bottom This kit sounds amazingly good and the price I paid $200 was well worth it. I have a new outdoor gig kit.

Ordered these back in August of last year and they arrived in February.
12x16 bass drum
14x20 bass drum
7x10 tom
16x16 floor tom
I already had an 18, 10, 12, and 14 in the same finish
I was able to play the 16” bass drum on a handful of restaurant gigs and then the pandemic canceled all my gigs. Next week I get to play the 20, 10, and 16 at a wedding

Here’s an update on the progress of my oak stave shell. My lugs, vent hole, butt plate and rims all came in today. Only thing left out is the strainer that is still on the way. Looks and sounds great so far... fun fact: this whole snare plus the parts only costed me $197.56! Nice price for an oak stave snare! Excuse the fingerprints.

I was thinking about building a 16" kick, but COVID might close down our only acoustic venue. :(

Most recent- Yamaha Premier era toms, 10" and 12" with a Yamaha tom tree to hold them, and a
Zildjian A 17" Rock Crash.
My "cheap" kit is almost complete. :)

I do have a few images and videos. I currently have a walnut 3-piece in process. I'll create a new thread and share this weekend.
