I stumbled upon a video of John Findlay's christmas album while browsing on youtube -
&feature=plcp.

We blast the stereo with christmas songs the whole day long every christmas so when I heard the sample, it really got me excited. Thought that this sound will be a welcome change from the old classics. Was about to order when I found out that the album won't be out til next year...bummer.
Any of you know of a Christmas album that sounds similar to this?

Cyrus Chestnut's (piano) Charlie Brown Christmas is a great record. Steve Gadd on drums.

Brian Setzer Orchestra, Christmas Rocks Album. Lots of good stuff on there from "Jingle Bells" to "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch". Great stuff and a very good band. More big band oriented, but of course, with loads of guitar.

One of my top favorites is Larry Carlton's "Christmas at My House." His rendition of "Little Drummer Boy" is a knockout. If it's guitar you want, this is it!

Little Drummer Boy

Awesome stuff! Thanks folks! Really like the one from the Brian Setzer Orchestra (actually it's a toss up between this a Peter Griffin's xmas album)

No luck buying MP3s on line though, not available outside the US. Time to schedule a trip to the record bar

@tommy, searched for christmas at my house on itunes, Larry Carlton's mp3 album is not available locally but there were other albums with the same name. Found one that's worth checking out...christmas at my house by Marty Williamson. Very nice acoustic take on classic xmas songs.

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" Vince Guaraldi Trio. Impossible to mention "jazz" and "Christmas" with out this - no guitar, but very guitar adaptable.
I would put this at the top of the list.

SOUL Christmas! Here's a great Spotify list that a friend put together. It wouldn't be Christmas without a little Charles Brown doing his thang:

I have about 75 Christmas albums so far, and the Carlton is one of my favorites, too. If you're looking for something more rock oriented, there are a couple of "Merry Axemas" discs with various guitarists doing different songs. Also look for Gary Hoey's Christmas work. He plays a surf style, and his stuff is really good when cranked up.

Los straitjackets "Yule Tide Beat" is a fun holiday record for those craving guitar driven holiday surf songs...

Jethro Tull put out an excellent Christmas album in 2003. Apologies, but I have to snicker at the track We Five Kings..
'Tis a fine record.

Itunes or Amazon MP3 isn't available outside the US?

Amazon mp3s are not available for purchase outside the us...at least the ones I checked. Itunes only shows music available locally, mainly big name artists. Quite a big selection but mostly mainstream.

Really like the vibe of the surf songs!
